(Of course, if you are lucky enough to own or can borrow/hire a good old Land Rover Defender then that would be just the ticket! Wow – what fun!)
A large cloth can be laid in the boot for the sake of cleanliness as most boots tend to be a bit messy! Then you can load everything from trays, cool boxes, plates, cutlery, drinks, condiments in bags or cool bags and anything else you need into the boot of the car and off you go. Add some nice bits for decoration such as candles, mini squash, tea towels or some sort of drapes, and some salad leaves or sprigs of thyme or rosemary. Your picnic is then ready and can be served from the boot or maybe a small table next to the vehicle if preferred…the choice is yours.
Depending on how far you are travelling, the number of people, and the weather, you can alter your menu accordingly. For example, if it’s not far away and you are not leaving until late morning then you can do some hot food and wrap it up well or you may be wanting a cold picnic on a hot day.
